Opinion, not Credit Report
How creditworthy are the ratings reports of these agencies on sovereign debt of big countries like US or for that matter, India. As is said, it is only their opinion.
And these same worthies gave excellent rating to those residential mortgage securities prior to 2007.
And this is what, "S&P said in its request to dismiss the case that the government can’t base its fraud claims on S&P’s assertions that its ratings were independent, objective and free of conflicts of interest because U.S. courts have found that such vague and generalized statements are the kind of “puffery” that a reasonable investor wouldn’t rely on."
'Puffery as a legal term refers to promotional statements and claims that express subjective rather than objective views, which no "reasonable person" would take literally.' : Wikipedia

The Million dollar question
The Million dollar question will be after the Million dollar operation, who will survive, the person whose head it is, or the person who owned the body ?

WIndows! windows! Windows
Likely that W8 will change the way we looked at Windows. Right from the highly unstable Win 95 thro' stable but bloated Win XP, the truly irrelevant and troublesome Vista to the stable, but still bloated W7, Windows was one OS which most used but hated at the same time. It was famous for its blue screen of Death which was very common until W7 came. There was no other way for most of us as it was inescapable to do many things we needed to do.
It looks like things are going to change with W8, which may be a fusion of the windows PC as we know and tablets. And may be much lighter, more responsive and highly stable. Extreme competition brings out probably the best. Way to go, MS, if it is so!!

Currencies and their plight!
Many had written off the USD during the tough times the US and World economy had gone through. But many currencies that were thought would replace USD have already fallen by the wayside, like the Japanese Yen and Euro. Now Dollar is expected to keep the status of World Reserve Currency for at least fifty years more.
But what will ultimately replace the Dollar. By the likes of it now, will it be the Yuan, the Indian Rupee or the SDR? In any case, what could be the best form of reserves that nations now can depend on, considering the precarious nature of the currencies and the ubiquitous nature of nations to depend more on the currency printing press to sustain the economy. China was probably on the right track, investing in precious metals and commodities. At least this strategy can keep the local currency strong.
